Our bistro with fish counter has been an integral part of Munich’s Viktualienmarkt since 1984 – a true Munich original and the go-to address for fresh fish and seafood in the city. What began as a pure fish stall at the Viktualienmarkt has evolved over the years into a popular bistro that today perfectly combines both worlds: day-fresh seafood and delicious fish dishes. Following a recent renovation, both the bistro and the fish counter now shine in a new light – without losing any of their authenticity or commitment to quality.

Who We Are – The Mergen Family

We are the Mergen family: mother Gabi, father Pierre and son Marcel. For more than 20 years, we have been running both the bistro and the fish counter, working together every day to offer our guests the freshest seafood from around the world – from sea urchin from Iceland to king salmon from New Zealand. We are particularly proud that our selection is based on sustainable fishing practices, including both wild-caught fish and responsibly farmed aquaculture. We are the family-run fish business in Munich, whre quality meets fair prices.

Popular Fish Dishes and Daily Specials

Our classics, like the Bouillabaisse with Rouille or the Spaghetti with seafood à la Pierre Mergen, have been crowd favorites for years and continue to delight all generations. To keep things exciting, we also offer daily changing specials, prepared right in our open kitchen. In the summer, our sunny terrace invites you to enjoy your meal outdoors with a view of the Viktualienmarkt – ideally with a good glass of wine. Whether you dine with us or buy fresh fish in Munich, we stand for the highest quality and sustainability – and have done so for over 40 years.
